Student Retreat 2008 fall

Sunday, November 9, 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

This past Friday through Sunday we had our usual fall Student Retreat. This is for students who are involved in our ministry and most of them came to the Lord through YTL. We had 120 came and spent this week-end with us. These students are in student discipleship groups and some of them are just a few weeks old in the Lord. The main topic was about Leadership - the kind of person God wants us to become. Beside of the teaching and wonderful worship time totally led by the students we had a lot fun, too. But one of the best part of this weekend for us was to listen to many of the students sharing their testimonies.

Let me highlight Barbi’s story out of the couple we’ve listened to. Barbi is a university student and she grew up in a non-Christian background. No-one in her close and extended family is a believer. She grew up not even hearing about God. When she went to university she met with Petra who is one of the volunteer leader in YTL. They were preparing together to run a marathon and going to the Iron Man competition. During this time Petra shared Christ with Barbi and she accepted Christ 6 moths ago. Petra started to disciple her and now Barbi is sharing her faith and stood up in front of 120 students and boldly shared how God has changed her life. This story - again - is illustrating our main goal: Lost to Christ-like laborer!

It was so much FUN for our KIDS to spend this weekend together with these students. Gergő (our 6 years old son) is just the most social person I’ve ever seen! He was just going from one girl to another. All these girls are like 20 years old. He just started talking to them and saying nice things to them, he was sitting in their laps (see picture above), he was asking their names and phone-numbers and asking them to buy chocolate for him. And these poor girls did buy him chocolate. They thought he is cute and funny, I thought he is scary :). I promise he didn’t learn this from me! I was not like that at all! Well, anyhow, it is a joy to be able to get our kids involved in our ministry. It is important for us that as much as possible our whole family would be involved in the ministry. And thankfully our kids always looking forward the next opportunity they can come to.

A few prayer-requests:

  1. 1.This weekend gave a lot of inspiration and encouragement to the students to grow in their faith. Pray for the weekly discipleship-groups, evangelistic appointments, etc. to support this growth process.

  2. 2.Renato is slowly getting adjusted to his new medication, but it still wears him out.

  3. 3.Right after the doctor took out the stitches from my knee, I started to fully work and walk. So, my knee is still pretty bad and hurting. I try to rest as much as I can, but that’s not much. I do some exercises.

  4. 4.There are tons of organizational paper and accounting work we need to finish before January 1st in order to start functioning in a new legal system that better fits our needs. Pray the time we invest into this would be very effective.

  5. 5.Rahel loves her new school. Pray for her new classmates that God would use her to draw many of her classmates to Him. We’ll start inviting them to SpeakOut and YTL weekly meetings, etc.

  6. 6.Pray for the preparation of SpeakOut camp. We try recruit Americans to come and help. Please, promote this website: www.speakout.hu/staff.

Your prayers, love and generosity amazes us! Thank you!
