SpeakOut camp 2nd week

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

We are in the middle of the camp. We have the highest attendance ever for Speak Out camp week (108 mainly non-Christian campers for one week, high-school and campus students from all kinds of schools over the country). For next week we have 95 signed up and hope to see more coming (all together we'll have about 300 for the 3 weeks).

Two great and very typical stories from the camp:

1. Every Tuesday night the Hungarian and American Christian students (who are serving at the camp) gather for worship. This is totally voluntary for anyone who wants to come. The non-Christian students hear the music and the singing and sometimes they look into the room or come in and listen to worship. Tonight a girl was sitting next to Edina at this worship night. They started to talk and it turned out that she is a campus student who came to Speak Out the first time and she really didn't know why she came until today, because this morning she prayed to receive Christ. She is a brand new Christian and at night she came to the worship time to sing praise to God! An 8 hours old Christian girl came to her very first worship time in her life!!! She's never been at such event before. What a great blessing that one her first experience as a Christian is worshiping God together with students from different cultures (America, Hungary, Moldova, Germany). Her name is Hajni, please pray for her spiritual growth as one of our staff starts following her up.

2. As I mentioned in our pervious email - 4 afternoons a week the Hungarian Christian volunteers and us (our staff) are out at the beach sharing Christ. We have great discussion. Yesterday I went out with Andras (one of our staff in YTL High School Ministry) and we had two great discussions. Specially one was very valuable with a young couple who are in their 30s. They've totally closed God out of their thinking. The husband doesn't believe in God at all, he just absolutely ignored Him. As we shared the evidences about God's existence and love, we could see how this man's brain was clicking. We've finished the long discussion with him now considering the existence of God as a strong possibility. I enjoy talking with people like this and bring totally new concepts into their thinking. To see how a process starts in their life because of such discussion. We've just planted a seed. But planting a seed will change a life. Many more stories could be told about how every day dozens of seeds are planted.

The camp has two great strengths and focus: evangelism and discipleship. Everybody is involved in discipleship relationship and are doing evangelism. We have Bible-study programs for the Christian volunteers at the camp as well as practical training with the opportunity of application right at the camp because we serve to the non-Christian campers.

Our family at the camp:

Our whole family is fully engaged and involved at the camp. Edina is going out sharing, meeting with staff and has great conversations with students. Our kids have a wonderful and best time. They enjoy being around students, there are lot of fun activities, games, sports, etc. Each Monday night there is "staff hunt" where the camp staff dress in something crazy and hide in the city and the students are divided into groups and they need to find the staff. Our kids love that and they dressed in, too. Gergo was spiderman, Renato was a fireman and Rahel was a "twin" with Sarah Wukasch (a good friend family's youngest daugther who came from Memphis to serve at SpeakOut with their 6 children).

Soon, there will be dozens of pictures at our website. "SpeakOut is FUN!" We hope next year some of you can come and help at the camp! This is a very significant opportunity. More later...
