So much is going on and we need your prayers!
Our desire is that through the various outreaches (you can read about them under #5) in the next 5 weeks we could give an opportunity (through literature, through personal or group evangelism, through classroom lectures, YTL symposium, etc) to 25,000 people to be exposed with the gospel in a personal, relevant and meaningful way!
1. We had our annual staff conference from Aug 14-19. It was a wonderful time of renewing our minds in the Word of God and seeking direction regarding our future direction. We spent a lot of time sharing and discussing with each other our vision for our ministry. The unity in vision and direction among all the 31 full-time staff is very encouraging. Everybody has a strong sense of calling and vision to reach the lost beyond the country. This mutual vision encouraged a lot of creativity among the staff. 2. The NEW YTL book is ready! You might remember that this year I had been working on two writing projects. One of them was the 3rd YTL curriculum for educators to use in classrooms. Finally, it is published and we also produced a DVD as part of this curriculum. With this 3rd volume the whole YTL educational curriculum grew to a series of handbook with over 1,000 pages of useful tool to creatively present life-principles to youth based on Scripture. The main topic of this 3rd curriculum is how to help students grow in their Emotional Intelligence and say no to pressure coming from the media. The gospel is presented in this volume as well through a chapter written to the educators about ethics and values. There are great interest already from schools to receive this. (For pictures of the new curriculum our web.)
3. A new Evangelistic Student Survival Kit (SSK) had been produced as well. We'll distribute 10,000 of this SSK in this coming week to freshmen in universities in Budapest. Pray that many would fill out the attached survey and would want to talk about God with us personally.
4. God opens unbelievable doors for us in the country side, too. This week in Miskolc (2nd largest city in Hungary) the largest high school gave us a whole day to train all their educators on some of the YTL topics. This opened doors beyond our capacity (they want us to go to every school in that city). God is raising up great volunteers for YTL, too. One of them is Lajos Varju from Kecskemet. The leadership of his city asked him to start a "YTL Youth Square" (a clubhouse provided by the city) which will be opened 3 days a week and his team of volunteers will organize activities and outreaches for youth. Once a week they will have a direct outreach through YTL in the building provided and promoted by the local government!
5. October 4-12 - BHHP. We'll host 31 Americans who will be helping to reach students and educators. Each morning we'll go to classrooms (both in high schools and campuses) to reach students, the afternoon we'll do "random" evangelism in universities, at nights we'll have outreaches in the dorms. We'll also have two special, large outreaches for campus and high school students. At the end of the week we'll host the 15th year anniversary YTL symposium for educators.
How to pray?
Pray for health and energy; pray that we would walk closely with the Lord and would live by the power of the Holy Spirit in every moment.
Pray that many would come to our outreaches (symposium, campus, high school evangelism, etc.), and many would respond positively. Especially pray for the YTL symposium that many educators would come.
We are making hundreds of phone-calls to call back everybody who came to SpeakOut this summer and invite them to our YTL weekly meetings. Pray that lot of students would want to stay involved and would receive Christ.
Short family news:
Gergo started the American Christian School today. (Both Rahel and Renato went there for a year to learn English). It is very challenging to start 1st grade in both the Hungarian and the American school. Pray that he would learn English quickly and would be able to learn what the Hungarian school demands so he could go back next year to the Hungarian school without problems.
As you can see a lot is going on right now (or maybe always:) ). Please, if the Lord leads you this way, would you be considering to have a special day of fasting for these outreaches, especially for the YTL symposium? We are living way beyond our capacity and the Lord has to perform miracles in the coming weeks! Your prayers are absolutely essential! Thank you!!! Your partnership is so valuable for us!!!
